On December 16-17, 2010, The Mikey Show and Rady Children's Hospital took over the FM 94.9 airwaves and the top deck of the parking structure at the FM 94.9 studio's for the annual Mikeython. Broadcasting live for 28 straight hours, proceeds from the commercial free Mikeython benefited Rady Children's Hospital's Autism Discovery Institute (ADI).
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are the fastest growing serious developmental disabilities in the United States. They are more prevalent than childhood cancers, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.
The Autism Discover Institute serves children with autism spectrum disorders and their families as well as professionals working in this area. The hospital's programs use a variety of intervention strategies in naturalistic settings, helping kids with ASD live healthy, productive and fulfilling lives. Mike Esparza's son, Jake, was diagnosed with Autism last year. |
